Bhoklagyo has been delivering food at night in Kathmandu since 2017, when almost nothing else in the city was open after 10 PM. It began for a simple reason: the founders were hungry late at night and there was nowhere to order from.

Ordering patterns change sharply with the hour. Before 9 PM it is mostly full meals — biryani, fried rice, chowmein. Between 10 PM and midnight, momos take over. After 1 AM the orders get smaller and simpler: chilly dishes, wings, a plate of momos, something cold to drink.

Why so few places deliver late in Kathmandu

Running a kitchen after midnight is difficult in ways a daytime restaurant never faces. Staff have to be willing to work the shift, riders have to be comfortable on quiet roads, and the order volume is unpredictable. A restaurant built around a lunch and dinner rush cannot simply stay open later. A kitchen built for the night is a different operation, and that is what Bhoklagyo is.
